Car dealers in the Middle East are pushing sales by offering special deals throughout Ramadan.

While people spend the month fasting during daylight hours, a number of dealers are selling discounted vehicles, offering free upgrades and other add-ons.

One Peugeot dealer in United Arab Emirates, Swaidan Motors, is offering all 2009 models with the first year of insurance free, a three-year unlimited mileage warranty and free first year registration and roadside assistance.

Another dealer Al Futtaim Motors is offering all Lexus sedan customers a vehicle upgrade when they purchase. For example, anyone buying a GS300 Premium Plus model will get the Luxury model for the same price. An upgrade adds 18-inch alloy wheels, satellite navigation, radar cruise control and a pre-crash safety system.

Arabian Automobiles, dealers for Nissan, Infiniti and Renault in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, are offering discounts of up to 10,000AED (£1,676) on new cars, as well as 0% down payment and a 4.5% interest rate, with monthly instalments over a period of up to six years.
