The average wholesale used van sale price increased by 5.9% (£183) to £3,273 in August compared with July – the sixth month this year that average values have increased.

Manheim Auctions’ latest monthly Van Market Analysis also reveals that compared with August last year average wholesale used van prices are up by 18.8% (£518).

Examples of the increases in average month-on-month values in August include: small panel vans up by 14.8% (£513 to £3,970); and large panel vans less than three tonnes up by 4.4% (£134 to £3,163).

“While we are now well into the seasonal period when values traditionally harden, this increase in August following a couple months of stability does come as something of a surprise,” said Alex Wright, sales director, commercial vehicles, Manheim Auctions.

“However we continue to see strong attendances both in the auctions halls and online with healthy bidding and high conversion rates suggesting that there is still underlying strength in the wholesale used van market.”
