General Motors has extended its deadline for negotiations to buy its Swedish brand Saab.

GM had said it could not keep Saab running in 2010 and originally said it would keep negotiations open until December 31.

However, according to Reuters, Saab will restart some production lines this month and the bid for Saab by Dutch supercar maker Spyker will be considered this week.

A decision is expected to be made over Saab’s future before the end of this week.

The protracted negotiations over the future of Saab leaves UK dealers unsure of what the future holds for the Swedish franchise.
