Proton won the best range extender electric vehicle category at the RAC Brighton to London Future Car Challenge. Proton Exora Extended Range Electric Vehicle

Setting off from Brighton at 8am on November 6, 64 competing cars from the world’s most recognised carmakers and individual parties took part in the challenge, and drove the 91.2km to London, arriving at around 12pm following a mandatory stop in Central Sussex College, Crawley.

Proton’s Exora extended range electric vehicle achieved average fuel consumption of just over 123MPG. The car emerged as the winner in its category after consuming 2.2-litres of petrol during the entire challenge.

The best overall entry chosen by the judges during the challenge was the Volkwagen Golf blue-e-motion electric and the public choice winner was the Vauxhall Ampera extended range electric vehicle.
