Stoneacre Motor Group has acquired for an undisclosed sum Richard Rhodes Peugeot in Wigan.

The business, which has represented Peugeot in Wigan for many years is Stoneacre’s third Peugeot acquisition since 2007 and takes its total number of locations to 25, representing 11 different manufacturer franchises.

David Kendrick, transaction manager at ASE, which brokered the deal, said: “From recent activity it appears that a number of groups are back on the acquisition trial, with an increasing number of long established dealers like Richard Rhodes Peugeot looking to exit the sector.

"I believe this will be one of many single site dealers being bought out by the larger groups as consolidation in the sector continues.”

Stoneacre is at number 50 in the newly-published AM100 of the UK's largest dealer groups by turnover.  Accompanying analysis also reveals it at number 13 in the return on sale performance at 2.6%, down from 3.7% last year.
