North City has opened a new Volvo dealership in Chigwell, Essex.

The Volvo franchise replaces its Saab new car franchise at its High Road dealership and joins North City’s Triumph motorcycle franchise.

North City will be continuing to offer Saab aftersales and did not say why it decided to relinquish the Saab new car sales franchise.

The business is operated by husband and wife team Peter and Karen Smith. The company had held the Saab new car franchise since 1984, and added Triumph into the showroom in 2005.

Dealer principal Karen Smith said: “The launch of these new premises comes at an exciting time for us and is a great opportunity to grow the business.”

North City was been awarded Dealer of the Year 2006 by Triumph in its second year with the franchise. That followed five consecutive Saab awards as London Region Dealer of the Year between 1999 and 2003, and a national customer satisfaction award for service and sales from Triumph in 2005.
