An accountant who pocketed thousands of pounds while working at car dealer group RRG has been jailed for a year.

Dawn Ellison of Radcliffe was a senior accounts supervisor at the RRG group dealership in Bolton Street, Bury, when she stole £32,000 from the business.

Bolton Crown Court was told that Ellison was responsible for banking the dealership's daily takings, but instead began pocketing thousands of pounds.

When managers noticed money was missing, an internal investigation identified Ellison, who then admitted two instances of theft in a meeting with her bosses.

Another audit was carried out, which identified another 32 transactions where money had gone missing, dating back to 2003.

In court Ellison admitted ten charges of theft.
