Government spending cuts mean that VOSA will cease production of some key ‘mandated’ MOT publications.

The RMI’s MOT chairman, John Ball, said the cost-cutting measures mainly apply to leaflets, flyers, and posters, which will not be reproduced once stocks have come to an end.

However, for MOT test stations, it is a regulatory requirement for three of the affected leaflets to be on display, so a Special Notice will be issued , as well as a Temporary Instruction to VOSA enforcement staff.

"Until then, if you run out of leaflets or flyers and are unable to get any more, and get a visit from VOSA – remind the VE of the situation," said Ball,

The information contained within the flyers and leaflets will remain available via the websites and may be downloaded and test stations should verbally advise customers where relevant, such as on diesel smoke testing.

VOSA will continue to print:

  • The MOT Testing Guide
  • The VTS Device User Guide
  • The Inspection Manuals
  • The VT26 List of NTs
  • The VT9 Authorisation Letter
  • The VT9 Annual Fees Poster

Agreement has been secured to publish this year's In - Service Emissions Book and Matters of Testing magazine will continue but reduced from four issues per year to three.
