Inchcape and Tesco have teamed up to offer Tesco Clubcard holders significant discounts on new cars.

Tesco’s 15m Clubcard holders can now use up to £2,000 worth of Clubcard rewards tokens as payment towards a new car.

Tokens can currently be used as part payment for Ford, Toyota or Volkswagen models through Inchcape.

“Tesco’s Clubcard holders can now obtain incremental discounts on new cars above the level they would be able to get in showrooms," said Steve Archer, director of innovation and strategy for Inchcape UK.

“The specific discounts vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and from model to model but at launch of the partnership they are up to £2,000 worth of tokens off the price of a Ford and £1,000 worth of tokens off the price of a Toyota or a Volkswagen.”

The exact makes and models available through the exclusive Tesco-Inchcape partnership will vary, but at the launch of the available cars include: the Ford Ka, Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo; Toyota Aygo and Yaris; Volkswagen Polo, Golf and Golf Plus.

We have chosen to launch the partnership with more volume-orientated brands with attractive pricing and discounts at above showroom levels," said Archer.

Models available will change regularly and more models and more manufacturers are expexted to be included in the future.

The Inchcape franchises include Audi, BMW, Honda, Jaguar, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Smart and Volvo.

Inchcape said it hopes to sell thousands of new cars in the coming months as a result of the new initiative.

Tesco Clubcard holders are able to exchange every £10 in Clubcard vouchers for £20 worth of rewards tokens, which they can then use to buy a wide cross-section of goods and services through the supermarket’s partners.
