The average price of new cars in the UK fell for the second month in a row in December 2010 by 0.12% or £33 from £27,522 to £27,489.

It is the fourth time prices have dipped during the past 12 months.

However, the average annual price for a new car since January 1, 2010 increased by 3.6% or £958 from £26,530 to £27,489. The underlying pace of inflation in car prices has again slowed down over the past 12 months. It rose by 9.6% between December 2008 and 2009.

The statistics, available in the DrivenData New Car Price Index, are calculated from the retail prices of every car model currently sold in the UK.
