Suzuki pushes VW to give up its stake

Suzuki has filed for arbitration in a bid to get Volkswagen to sell back its shares in the Japanese carmaker.

Since 2009 Volkswagen has had a 19.9% stake in Suzuki as it sought manufacturing and development partnerships.

However relations between the two have deteriorated this year, with Suzuki ending its partnership with VW in September after it was accused of breaking the terms of their agreement.

Volkswagen has said Suzuki has "no legal foundation" to force it to sell its shares.

Suzuki should use the relationship to gain diesel technology and take away their dependance on Fiat diesel designs.
