Mercedes dealer John R Weir has ditched Royal Bank of Scotland.

The company, which returned to profit last year with earnings of £134,000 on turnover of £83.4m, has switched to Barclays Corporate.

Owner John Weir told The Herald newspaper: “When we made the decision to move from RBS we spoke to a number of banks, however we were impressed with the team from Barclays from our very first meeting with them.

"They showed an interest in and knowledge of our sector that other banks did not match.”

He criticised the lack of flexibility at RBS in recent times.

Barclays Corporate will handle corporate banking, bank debt and working capital for the firm which has dealerships in Aberdeen, Perth, Dundee, Grangemouth and Inverness and employs 350 people.
