Vauxhall has confirmed that the Zafira Tourer concept, previewed at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, will become a production reality, with first cars in UK showrooms by early 2012.Zafira Tourer

Called the Zafira Tourer, the new model will sit above the current Zafira model in Vauxhall’s line-up.

It will continue to use Flex7 seating, as Zafira has done since 1999, but the system has evolved to offer greater flexibility and comfort, with three separate seats in the second row.

Vauxhall said improved material quality, more cabin space and an overwhelmingly airy cabin will further define the Zafira Tourer from its compact MPV Zafira sibling.

FlexRide adaptive damping system, traffic sign recognition, advance park assist and FlexFix integral cycle carrier will be among the options available.

Two petrol and three diesel engines will be available.

The production car will be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show this autumn.
