Jaguar will unveil a new small sports car concept called the C-X16 at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 13. Jaguar C-X16 concept

The new model, positioned below the XK, will help Jaguar to compete against models like the Porsche Cayman.

The production version will be called the XE and has been designed by the same team that produced the XJ, XF and XK – headed by Jaguar director of design Ian Callum.

According to AM-sister title CAR magazine, the XE will feature V6 petrol engines in 275bhp and 350bhp forms. A drop-top will go on sale first in 2013, while coupe and R versions will go on sale by 2015.
