The Refinish Academy, the DuPont Performance Coatings dedicated training centre in Stevenage, has renewed its status as an ATA Approved Assessment Centre for paint technicians for the next three years.

The ATA accreditation is designed to assess a refinisher’s competency and raise the professional status and credibility of skilled individuals.

Kevin Welling, Refinish Academy training manager, DPC Refinish Systems, said: “The industry need for more competent technicians is greater than ever. It is imperative bodyshops employ highly-skilled and well-trained staff so they are able to increase profit margins.

“Refinishers who achieve the ATA accreditation stand out from the crowd, add value to a business and help to provide bodyshops with a competitive edge. We are committed to helping achieve that.”

The Refinish Acadmey offers ATA paint assessments at both technician and senior technician level with each group having to show their competency in five or six disciplines respectively. Once assessments have been passed, accreditation will be valid for five years, after which technicians will need to renew.
