Saab's national dealer council has now ceased and donated the balance of the funds left in its kitty to automotive charity BEN.

A cheque of £900 was presented to BEN’s regional development manager by Andrew Cox the managing director of Cox of Ipswich who has for many years been the treasurer on the council.

A joint decision was made to donate the balance of the funds before the group broke up.

Cox said: "I managed the bank account for the national dealer council for over 30 years. With the bankruptcy of Saab in 2011, I and fellow board members could think of no better use of the remaining funds than supporting BEN.

"I trust all past and present Saab colleagues agree with me."
