Norwich-based Robinsons Motor Group has acquired Cooks Motor Group, which includes four sites in East Anglia, for an undisclosed sum.

The deal will take the group's turnover to over £216 million. It takes the group to 18 sites and all Cooks staff and management will be retained.

It is not yet clear if the Cooks sites will now be rebranded as Robinsons.

Robinsons already operate Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Seat, Skoda, Smart and Volkswagen. Cooks are one of the longest standing Volkswagen dealers in the country and have represented the brand in Peterborough for 58 years, as well as operating a satellite site in Stamford. It also represents Audi, Citroen and Hyundai.

The decision to sell came as Cooks Motor Group owner Jonathan Cook decided to retire from the business. The transaction was brokered by ASE’s Dealermatch service.

Robinsons has approved franchised dealers for new and used cars, service, parts and bodyshop accident repair in Norwich, Kings Lynn, Peterborough, Lowestoft, Cambridge, North Walsham and Bury St Edmunds. In addition it has two Auto Devotion used car outlets in Norwich and Peterborough.
