Toyota dealership Myers and Bowman exceeded its annual sales target by 8% last year, leading to a letter of thanks from the Japanese brand's head.

The 18 members of staff at the car dealer near Workington, Cumbria, were sent a letter of thanks and congratulations from Toyota GB managing director Jon Williams for their fantastic sales performance in 2011.

It is the second consecutive year that the dealership has exceeded its sales target.

Stephen Calvin, dealer principal, told the Times & Star local newspaper: "We had a great team effort from all the staff.

"I think the revamp and Toyota’s aspirations have helped us to achieve this target. We have already achieved 100% sales for January for Toyota’s fast track programme which gives a great springboard for the rest of the year."

The dealership’s recent revamp included a new workshop, extension and valeting area.

It will introduce four new cars this year including the GT86, Yaris Hybrid, Prius Plus and Prius Hybrid.
