A complaint against Nissan's claim of zero emissions from driving its Leaf electric vehicle has been thrown out by the advertising watchdog.

The Advertising Standards Authority received a complaint about Nissan Motor GB's website promoting its Leaf, including a pdf download which said the electric car doesn't produce one gram of CO2 whilst driving.

The complainant said it was misleading because of emissions produced in generating the electricity used to charge the vehicle.

However the ASA ruled it wasn't misleading, because the website's claims referred to the car in use and while driving.
