Benfield Motor Group has terminated two Renault dealerships in Morpeth, Northumberland, and Gateshead, Tyne and Wear.
The closures, which follow Renault UK's decision in December to reorganise its franchised network in line with its reduced market share, will halve Benfield's Renault business, leaving it with Newcastle and Carlisle showrooms.
The Gateshead site will continue with an authorised repair business for the French brand and used car sales. The Newcastle showroom will close its service department in Scotswood Road.
The Morpeth site also held a Volkswagen authorised repair franchise, which has also closed.
Benfield said the decision was regrettable, but followed Renault UK's recent announcement and reduced market share.
A staff consultation process is taking place and some redundancies are possible, however the company is working to find alternative employment for staff within the group, said its spokesman
