German premium carmaker Audi is in talks to acquire Ducati, the sports motorcycle manufacturer, according to reports from AM's sister magazine Car.
Car magazine reports that the plan is part of Project Eagle, a brainchild of Volkswagen group scion Ferdinand Piech, who has looking into opportunities to buy a prestigious motorcycle brand for some time.
Ducati, which makes around 40,000 motorcycles a year, is on the market since its debt burden is reportedly higher than its revenues.
