The European Commission is due to ask motor retailers for input in its challenge of unfair business-to-business practices.

It has launched an initiative to combat unfair commercial activities following the adoption of the Single Market Act.

It plans to launch a broad public consultation at a future date, and has said the stakeholders of the automotive retail industry are invited to participate.

Dealer groups have expressed concern at the likely increased involvement in their franchises by manufacturers, and consequent demand for investment, following the end next June of the transition period from the Motor Vehicle Block Exemption Regulation.
