A new supercar brand called Vuhl (pronounced vool) will launch with a road-legal lightweight supercar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 11.

The brand’s first model, the Vuhl 05, hopes to “bring a breath of fresh air to the premium track-day sector”.

Vuhl’s suppliers and development partners include Magna Steyr, Multimatic and Ford. The company says handling was optimised in the UK, while the body for the Vuhl’s bodywork will be fabricated in Canada and the chassis production and final assembly will be in Mexico City. Vuhl’s European arm is headquartered in Luxembourg.

Vuhl is the brainchild of brothers Iker and Guillermo Echeverria, whose Mexican/American design agency, Etxe, created the 05. The company’s blue-chip backers include private investors and the Mexican Government.

Iker Echeverria said: “We intend Vuhl products to be renowned for their effective simplicity and aesthetics guided by a purity of function.

“The 05 and its successors will also be notable for uncompromising build quality, rigorous attention to detail and a driving experience par excellence.”
