Henrik Fisker, the founder of the electric car maker Fisker Automotive, has left the company.
Fisker blamed "major disagreements" on the business strategy.
The California-based carmaker currently only sells one model, the Karma petrol-electric plug-in hybrid.
It has long-term ambitions to compete with the likes of BMW with its hybrid executive car.
Fisker made his name in the motor industry as a designer, working for Aston Martin, BMW and Ford.
