Although the recent upturn in new car sales may herald the beginning of a recovery for the motor industry, we have seen many false dawns and as such dealers cannot afford to be complacent.

Profit generators that don’t require a wholesale revolution in the sales process are the foundation of a successful dealership during tough times. The quick wins for dealer lie in add-ons.

But, even if a dealership embraces these, there is a temptation to stay within its comfort zone and rely on the classic add-ons; paint-protection, warranties and the like. But every dealer knows about these – and actively offers them.  So why not try a product which can differentiate you from your competitors, can add real value to your customer offering, and generate a substantial profit at the same time? Vehicle tracking systems fit the bill.

Where other avenues of optimising profit may have been exhausted, vehicle tracking systems represent a rich vein of opportunity that has been untapped - until now. At TRACKER, we want to lead the charge in encouraging dealers to realise the potential in offering Stolen Vehicle Recovery (SVR) units to customers.

TRACKER has recently made it easier for dealers to sell TRACKER units, and we want to send out one key message for them – there is money to be made through selling TRACKER. We are keen to talk to dealers across the board that aren’t aware of this profit opportunity, as we can offer something that is unique – not only the traditional margin, but also a percentage of the subscription that dealers collect for us. It is now just as profitable for a dealer to sell a TRACKER as it is for them to sell paint protection or GAP products.

But it’s not just the profitability that makes TRACKER attractive – consumers truly want this product. Car thieves have never been so prolific or sophisticated, using various methods to counteract even the most resilient security systems the manufacturers fit.  So it is little wonder car buyers are looking at every way they can to protect their new pride and joy, and if a dealer can offer them a way to do so, it will only strengthen the relationship and keep them coming back.

As market leaders for 20 years, TRACKER has sold more than one million tracking units in the UK alone, and we can count every police force in the country as a partner. That’s not forgetting the amazing statistic that 95% of vehicles fitted with a TRACKER are recovered – and 86% of these are returned to their owner within 24 hours.

We recognise that up until now, there hasn’t been much of an incentive for dealers to sell tracking products, and so they have been happy for the sale to go elsewhere. But we are here to say that now there is a reason for dealers to offer TRACKER to customers. At a time when optimising every avenue of profit counts, we urge dealers to take advantage of this burgeoning new sales opportunity.
