Commissioned videos and DVDs are helping retail car buyers to understand the complexities of motor loans.

iVendi uses videos for Car Finance Checker, its online eligibility tool for dealer websites.

Director James Tew said: “Each covers a different finance method and most have been watched around 10,000 times. Online videos have come of age now there are 37.5 million UK PC and laptop video viewers and 11.2m mobile video users.”

The Funding Corporation, which provides loans through its ACF Finance used car outlets, shows customers a DVD before they are bound by agreements.

Managing director David Challinor said successful loan applicants spend an average 4.25 hours in dialogue.

Most of  the time is on the precise nature of an offered finance agreement and obligations on borrowers.

Challinor said TFC felt under a special obligation to ensure applicants understood loan structures because many had previously entered into unsustainable commitments.
