Vauxhall is planning for a 5% increase in its fleet volumes this year, according to fleet sales director James Taylor.

Taylor told AM sister title Fleet News that Vauxhall’s targeted share of “0.2-0.3%” of the true fleet sector this year would depend on the strength of the family car segment.

The sector has contracted as drivers downsize or switch to SUVs, while large corporate fleets which are responsible for a sizeable proportion of sales have not been in the market for much of the year.

Taylor told Fleet News: "“If the segment stabilises or grows, because we don’t have a fuel penalty , we could potentially do better, and possibly drag people up from the Astra segment.

“Our order take in the fourth quarter of 2013 is very strong which is due to the corporate sector coming back. We are getting back to a normal market as buying freezes are removed.”
