A dealer principal of a UK BMW car dealership has left the industry to follow a new passion, selling shoes.

Christian Macnamara was dealer principal of Green Bower in Haverfordwest, Wales, with 25 years of experience in the motor trade.

But now he's running his own business in Cardiff, a premium gentlemen's shoe retailer called The Brogue Trader.

It came after he decided 2013 would be the year when he would leave the car dealership and work for himself.

“I looked at opportunities in Cardiff and measured these against the capital I had to spend on opening a business and making it work to get a return.

“I really wanted to be in the automotive business but I couldn’t afford it, so I looked at other areas where I thought I could be successful in the Cardiff commercial environment and eventually came up with the idea of opening a shoe shop, which I called The Brogue Trader," he told Wales Online.
