Plans have been submitted for a new Jaguar dealership at Tunbridge Wells.

The proposal is for a 1,872sq m redevelopment of the former Sparshatts of Kent Mercedes-Benz truck dealership in Longfield Road adjacent to a major retail park.

In planning documents from architects The Harris Partnership on behalf of the owners of the site, Tarncourt Developments Ltd and Tarncourt Construction Ltd, it says the development will help “rejuvenate a run-down site on Longfield Road”.

It also said 45 jobs will be created by the venture and will have parking for 120 cars, including space on the roof for cars to park, although 28 of those will be used to display cars and 46 to store vehicles.

The existing building, which was vacated a year ago when Sparshatts relocated to Tonbridge, will be demolished.

The Harris Partnership said in its application: “The proposed redevelopment will revitalise a currently disused brownfield site with a new, contemporary car dealership built to a high specification.

“The end user has a specific set of high quality design standards which have guided the proposals towards a well-considered design and created a development that provides clear recognition and corporate identity for the new Jaguar dealership."

A new-built Audi dealership is due to open in the same area this summer, becoming the new home for the current Tonbridge Audi business operated by Inchcape.
