Unipart Automotive's future still in the balance

Talks are ongoing to secure new owners for Unipart Automotive after the company filed a notice to appoint administrators KPMG earlier this month.

That notice gave the car parts supplier 10 days protection from creditors but reports suggest that protection has been extended while a buyer is sought.

Initially Euro Car Parts and Better Capital were linked with the rescue talks, but the Sunday Times reports both are now less interested and the sellers are continuing to engage with a new party, R Capital.

Turnaround specialist R Capital bought roadside restaurant chain Little Chef in 2007 for £9 million and sold it six years later for £15 million.

I doubt anyone will be able turn it around. The company has had its day in the sun.

I'd love to see Unipart succeed. They've always tried to do a good job of selling quality parts at reasonable prices and have some truly brilliant staff. I'd love to see ECP's founder buy them and kick the asses of the new LKQ/ECP who seem to want to rule the world selling cheap nasty imported products for little less than Unipart.

@adam - did ECP's founder not sell poor quality parts, and did he not try to rule the UK

Unipart have a fantastic franchise network ( Express Factors ) ironically, This is how UA entered the parts aftermarket and it is these EF's that are both customer focused and above all profitable !!!! TURN THEM ALL TO EF's I SAY.
