Marriott Motor Group has acquired Bristo’s in Ipswich, adding Renault, Dacia and Skoda car dealerships.

The Ipswich site brings Marriott’s second Skoda dealership – it already operates Walkers Skoda in King’s Lynn – but the Renault and Dacia sites are wholly new to the group’s franchise portfolio.

Paul Barnard, managing director of Marriott Motor Group, said: “Bristo’s has enjoyed a long and successful history of motor retailing in Ipswich and has deservedly gained an excellent reputation for its high standards of customer service.  It is now our responsibility to maintain and improve on those standards.

“Škoda, Renault and Dacia are brands with exciting futures that we are proud to represent. This acquisition also broadens our options of battery powered vehicles, with the Renault range of zero emission cars supporting the hybrids offered by our Audi and Volkswagen retailers.

“As the motoring world moves on at a pace with new technology, we are excited at the opportunities that our newly extended family can present to our customers.

Mark Sherman, Bristo’s franchise manager at Bristo’s said: “Bristo’s have been serving Ipswich and the surrounding areas for more than 100 years and being part of the Marriott Motor Group further strengthens our focus on high levels of satisfied customers.”

Bristo’s, founded in 1910 by Walter Bristo, had been owned by the Head family since 1966.
