A syndicate of workers at independent garage GPG Montrose Garage are celebrating a million pound win on the lottery just days before the coronation of King Charles III.

Eleven employees at the car repair workshop in Angus, Scotland, entered the recent EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker online after forming a syndicate at work, including 66-year-old Robert Pert who was retiring on the very day they heard about their win.

The syndicate of mechanics, technicians, managers and office staff have various plans for their winnings, including garden renovations, home improvements, cars and dream holidays.

Syndicate members Lesley Forsyth and her husband Arthur discovered the syndicate's £1m win and shared the good news with their colleagues. Their daughter, Laura Forsyth, a director and co-owner of the business, was also among the winners.

Lesley Forsyth said: “I think the news is still sinking in, you hear of people winning all the time but you just never ever think it will happen to you – a garage business in Montrose.”

The company’s planned away day turned into a lottery-winning celebration at a restaurant.
