Nathaniel Cars in Bridgend has leant a new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV to rugby ace Mike Phillips.

Phillips, from Carmarthen, is Wales’s most-capped scrum-half. Now playing for French club Racing Métro, he is using a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV lent by Nathaniel Cars of Bridgend while back in Wales for the next few months.

He said: “I’m grateful to Nathaniel Cars for giving me the opportunity to drive this great SUV. I’m so impressed with the PHEV. I can’t believe how quiet it is and the fuel efficiency is outstanding.  It’s a great hybrid vehicle and I can understand why it has won so many awards over the past year.”

Managing director of Nathaniel Cars, which is in David Street, Wayne Griffiths, said: “We’re delighted to lend an Outlander PHEV to Mike, whose career we have followed closely. It’s a star car for a star player, and we know he’ll love driving it because of its fantastic environmental and fuel economy credentials as well as its impressive performance.”

Since its launch last year, the Outlander PHEV has swiftly become the UK’s best-selling plug-in hybrid, with Mitsubishi Motors UK selling 10,000 of them by the end of March 2015.
