Lings Mitsubishi are celebrating the success of a new management team after matching last year’s vehicle sales figure in the space of just six months.

The Lowestoft retailer’s new dealer principal Daniel Lake, who took the reins in February, said that the results showed that the family owned business are “going in the right direction”.

Lings – based at Lings Wharf in Riverside Road –only took on the Mitsubishi franchise 20 months ago and is already reaping sales rewards, boosted by a recruitment drive which saw the introduction of two new trainee sales executives and new service manager, Paul Hunter.

Lake said: “In the first two quarters of the year we have exceeded our sales target so we are going in the right direction.

“‘We want to expand and my big focus is the customer service side of it. It’s important to us that the customers get the best possible service. We are very pleased with how things have gone so far.”

Paul Barkshire, operations director of Lings Motor Group, said: “I’m delighted Daniel has joined us and we have already seen an improvement since he arrived.

“This is an exciting time for Mitsubishi and we look forward to being part of the continuing success story with our new team in place.”

Statistics from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders show Mitsubishi Motors in the UK been the fastest-growing mainstream car manufacturer for the past three years.

The company saw sales growth in passenger cars of 44% in 2015 compared with the previous year, against an overall market up 6%.
