Cecil and Larter of Bury St Edmunds have celebrated the opening of their brand new Seat showroom with a customer open weekend.

The Town’s Mayor, Julia Wakelam, performed the formal opening duties to mark the start of the celebrations at the facility off Lamdin Road on Saturday (11th) as the group celebrated its transformation into a solus site.

Cecil and Larter had represented Seat in the town for just over ten years but the franchise had previously shared the showroom with the company’s Volvo operation.

Ray Cawston, the group’s managing director, said: “We are delighted to make this long-term commitment to the SEAT brand in this, our 90th year of business in the town.   The brand is set to grow in the coming years and the new showroom will enable us to keep pace with this opportunity”.

Cawston said that the “significant investment and shift to a solus operation” reflects the growth of the company’s Seat business as well as the more general progress and development of the brand.

With the brand new Ateca and the updated Leon already in the showroom this growth is set to continue.

The model range is soon also to be supplemented by the new Ibiza in quarter two and a further cross-over vehicle later in the year.

Cecil and Larter said in a statement that the business had enjoyed significant growth in recent times, the company’s Seat operation experiencing a sales increase of over 30% in the past two years.
