Glyn Hopkin has secured the top spot in the annual ‘Essex Limited’ survey of leading businesses for the second year running.

The survey, carried out by leading financial and business advisers, evaluates the 100 largest independent companies in Essex.

It ranks businesses according to their turnover and is restricted to those companies owned, controlled and managed in Essex. This is the second consecutive year that Glyn Hopkin has won the accolade.

Glyn Hopkin’s managing director Fraser Cohen said: “We are very proud to have our origins in Essex, and to have built up such a successful business with the talent and commitment of so many local people.

“We opened our first dealership in Romford, Essex in 1993 and, as we look ahead to celebrating our 25th anniversary in January 2018, this accolade highlights just how much we have achieved – and the confidence we can have in our future.”

Last year, Glyn Hopkin Limited achieved record turnover of £456 million, an 8.61% rise over 2015. It also achieved total operating profits of £10m, representing a 12.7% improvement.

The company has also reached a significant milestone of employing 45 staff who have each been with the group for more than two decades (a combined 900 years of service), and 107 staff that have been with Glyn Hopkin for between 10 and 20 years.

Earlier this year, Glyn Hopkin was ranked number 33 in the 2017 Sunday Times Top Track 250, which evaluates Britain’s private mid-market growth companies – its seventh consecutive appearance in the rankings.
