Park’s Motor Group has confirmed that it closed the doors to one of its Nissan dealerships after a number of employees tested positive for COVID-19 coronavirus.

The AM100 car retail group confirmed the measure taken at its facility in Irvine, Ayrshire, in a statement issued to the Irvine Herald newspaper.

The dealership on Corsehill Mount Road, has undergone a process of decontamination and cleaning after it was shut to customers last Tuesday following a number of positive tests among its workers.

In a statement issued to the Irvine Herald, the AM100 car retail group said: "As a result of a number of positive tests amongst a group of staff at our Irvine dealership, we took the decision to close the site from Tuesday to ensure the safety of our staff, our customers and the local community.

"We have implemented additional, enhanced cleaning to ensure the safety of our staff and customers.

"In the interim we are able to provide normal service or maintenance at our other locations.

"Any Irvine dealership enquiries continue to be handled remotely until we reopen."

In this month’s edition of AM Magazine, set to reach subscribers this week, car retailers from across the UK talk about the lessons they have learned during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Among those sharing their experiences is John Clark Motor Group Manging director, Chris Clark, who shares his experience of closing the group’s Pentland Land Rover dealership in Perth after three team members tested positive for the virus.

Clark told AM: “It was a challenging two or three days, but ultimately reassuring for the COVID lead to confirm that we had taken the necessary steps and done everything we possibly could.”
