Ben will visit small and medium-sized automotive businesses across the UK as it takes its health and wellbeing services on a UK roadshow to coincide with national Conversation Week (May 23 to 29).

Aiming to visit a range of business, including small workshops and parts manufacturers, independent garages and franchised dealerships, the 'Ben on the Road' tour will raise awareness about the charity’s life-saving work and encourage anyone who may be struggling to reach out for support.

Businesses can sign up to receive a visit, completely free of charge, by clicking here.

Ellen Plumer, Ben’s head of outreach, health and wellbeing, said: “The ‘Ben on the Road’ tour gives us the chance to get out into the automotive world and meet people who may not be aware that help is here, ready and waiting for them to use whenever they need it.

“While many organisations and individuals are already benefiting from enlisting the support of Ben, we know that many others don’t know about Ben or understand that they are also eligible to use our services.

Plumer added: “We want to be able to help as many people in our automotive community as possible.

“If you’re part of the automotive family, we are here for you – we’ve got your back, no matter what. The more people who know this, the more people we can help.

“We encourage any business interested in finding out more about Ben to get in touch, we can’t wait to meet you and tell you about the many ways we can help you and your team.”

Attendees at May 12’s AM Awards 2022 prize-giving ceremony donated over £5,000 on the night.

The charity’s main fund-raising drive of 2022 will see it encourage teams from across the sector to take part in a gruelling Beast of Ben challenge.

Taking place between July 6 and July 8 at a location just outside Llanberis, North Wales, the Beast of Ben involves several team challenges, including abseiling, water crossing, and problem solving, with the winning team taking home a trophy.

Bonus points can be earned along the way with additional trials and fundraising milestones.

Each team needs to have four members, and the entrance fee is £250 per person with an additional team fundraising goal of £4,000 to be raised by the end of July 2022.

During the event, teams will camp out and be provided with meals and safety equipment, with supervisions and organisation provided by Ben’s approved activity provider, Aspire Adventure.

The latest AM industry special issue

The complexity of running a modern dealership can be misunderstood easily by people looking in on our industry.

Any general manager has so many plates to spin, and they must foster a talented team that they can rely on to not just do the basics well, but to sprinkle some magic on top that customers can notice.

If the marketplace in 2023 is steadily returning to relative normality, this normality now includes the drive to find customers for an increasing supply of electric vehicles, and the need to source used cars from all channels and market them carefully. And of course there are the desires to delight consumers with an omnichannel experience and to hold on to decent margins after a couple of years of strong profitability.

The expectations of both the customer and the business’s stakeholder must be achieved to the optimum level.

In this special digital publication, industry experts, prominent suppliers and franchised dealers share their insights on the major aspects required in running a modern dealership well.
