Fiat has revealed its new Tipo C-segment model which acts as a preview of a hatch version likely to make it to the UK next year.

The new model is being launched as a saloon first for markets like Turkey where the bodystyle is popular. Fiat has not confirmed if the saloon will come to the UK.

The Tipo will likely sit with the Panda in the UK range as part of Fiat’s “functional family”, whereas the 500 family of models remains more of a lifestyle product.

The emphasis on the Tipo will be on value-for-money and a straightforward model range.

The saloon version comes with the choice of two MultiJet II turbo-diesel engines and two petrol units with power outputs ranging from 95hp to 120hp, offered with manual and automatic transmissions (depending on engine).

Standard equipment includes Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' touch-screen Uconnect system with hands-free Bluetooth calling and audio streaming; a rear parking camera and TomTom satellite navigation.
