Mazda has upgraded convertible and RF versions of the MX-5, offering more performance, increased safety equipment and cabin refinements.

The new model will arrive in dealerships in September and Mazda says the new MX-5 has been carefully revised to ensure it‘s more exciting and engaging to drive than ever before.

The 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G engine has been revised and now produces 184PS, up from 160PS. As a result, the 0-62mph time improves by 0.8 of a second to 6.5 seconds.

Buyers can also choose the 1.5-litre engine, which now produces 132PS.

Both units meet the latest Euro 6d Temp emission regulation and 2.0-litre models offer lower emissions that the outgoing car with 156g/km.

Across all models in the range, the 2019 MX-5 now features telescopic steering adjustment and improved seat sliding operation.

Revised prices start at £18,995, with SE+, SE-L Nav+, Sport Nav+ and new GT Sport Nav+ trims available.

Standard safety equipment has increased with Sport Nav+ cars and above now featuring Front Smart City Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning System, Rear Smart City Brake Support, Traffic Sign Recognition and Driver Attention Alert, while Blind Spot Monitoring System with Rear Cross Traffic Alert,

Adaptive LED headlights and a reversing camera are standard on GT Sport Nav+ and optional as a safety pack on Sport Nav+.
