Volvo Car UK has appointed former Volkswagen Group national network development manager Mark Cox as its national sales manager, with immediate effect.

In his new role, Cox (pictured) takes responsibility for the management of the regional sales team, for retail sales performance, and he will also be the first line of communication with Volvo’s retail network.

He joins Volvo from 18 years at VW Group UK, having held numerous business improvement, area and regional sales management roles, with responsibility for retail, fleet and business sales.

His most recent role was as national network development manager, where he was responsible for defining, implementing and maintaining the franchise representation strategy for Volkswagen in the UK.

“I am extremely excited by the opportunity at Volvo,” said Cox.

“It’s an incredible brand, with fantastic products and an excellent retail network. Last year, Volvo recorded its highest UK sales for 28 years, and I can’t wait to help make this year and beyond even more successful.”

Volvo Car UK’s sales director, Matt Galvin, said: “Mark will bring his years of experience and insights to help work towards achieving yet more record-breaking sales in the UK.”

Volvo Car UK sold 50,319 new cars in the UK in 2018, its highest total in 28 years. This represented growth of 9% on 2017, against an overall market down 7%. January sales were up 80% year-on-year, in a market down 2%.
