A former Sunday Times motoring journalist has been appointed as editor of online car sales specialist Buyacar.co.uk.

Dominic Tobin has been appointed as editor of Buyacar.co.uk, the online-only motor retail platform for generating dealer sales.

Tobin (pictured) joins Buyacar.co.uk from the Sunday Times Driving team, where he spent six years as a senior reporter.

He said: “The first experience of Buyacar.co.uk for most visitors will be the information and advice offered to guide them in their choices and this is an area of the market that is not currently well served by the traditional car advertising sites.

“People have demonstrated that they are happy to buy cars online and we know that they are always searching for no-nonsense, clear, impartial advice that will help them make the right choices for their circumstances.

“My aim is to help Buyacar.co.uk to provide everything in one place, creating high quality information as a gateway to the best products on offer and guiding customers smoothly through the most comfortable buying experience possible.”

Austin Collins, Buyacar.co.uk managing director, said: “Dominic is responsible for creating up to date impartial and accurate advice on car and option choices, together with guidance on finance and other services.

“By building and maintaining the most professional content Buyacar.co.uk aims to more strongly differentiate its platform from standard car sales and advertising sites.

“Professional content provided by an experienced motoring writer is a key element in the strategy of building a best in class customer journey ranging from the best information to a smooth ‘Amazon-like’ online purchase experience.”
