Vauxhall is sensitive over suggestions its Agila mini people carrier (MPC) is no more than a rebadged Suzuki Wagon R.

Work on the shared model began in 1995. The Agila (also badged Opel) is built at GM's new Gliwice, Poland, plant while Suzuki produces the Wagon R in Hungary.

Annual production at Gliwice is 100,000 units, with the UK expected to take about 8,000 Agilas a year. UK sales begin in June with prices starting from around £7,000. There will be two engine choices, a 1-litre and 1.2-litre.

Last year, sub-B sector sales totalled 256,000 - 19% of the mini sector.
