Review

BMW’s 5 Series Gran Turismo is a prime example of a product created for a prestige niche that nobody knew was there.

BMW’s wisdom is that this will appeal to people who like the high driving position of an X5, the luxury of a 7 Series and the practicality of a 5 Series Touring. And it lives up to the aim.

The cabin space and comfort is extensive, even with two adults and three kids on board, and the car cruises effortlessly thanks to its smooth eight-speed auto gearbox and energetic 3.0-litre turbodiesel.

Priced below the X5 and the 7 Series, the 5 Series GT is a great step towards luxury
executive motoring. The £11,260 of options on our test car show the upsell opportunities.

Price: £42,225

Rivals: Audi A7 Sportback, Mercedes-Benz CLS
