Vauxhall and Land Rover have joined the list of manufacturers debuting special editions at he Scottish motor show, which begins tomorrow.

Vauxhall will display a limited edition VX220, of which only 100 will be built, all finished in a new 'Lightning Yellow' colour scheme. The interior is black leather with floor mats – normally an option – fitted as standard. Other visual changes from the standard VX220 include a black windscreen surround and unique anthracite alloy wheels. A hard top, colour coded in Lightning Yellow and with a normal option price of £1,200, is also fitted as standard. The final enhancement to the standard specification is a CD radio. Each car will be individually numbered, depicted by a special badge on the dashboard.

Like all VX220s, the Lightning Yellow models come with one day's free driver training and Vauxhall's three year warranty. The Lightning Yellow VX220 will be at specialist VX220 retailers across the country in December, priced £24,995 on the road.

Land Rover is launching the Defender, Freelander, Discovery and Range Rover Braemar special editions, exclusive to Scotland. All are available in Blenheim silver paint and come with a host of Land Rover accessories. The Discovery Braemar special edition is available with 2.5 litre direct injection turbo diesel engine, the Td5 automatic is priced at £30,490 and the manual at £28,995 on the road. Special features include play stations, privacy glass, picnic tables, safari lamps and guards, rear access ladder and 18 inch triple sport alloy wheels.

The Defender 90 Hard Top Braemar special edition comes with 'County Pack' which includes cloth seats, tinted glass, side and rear steps, front mudflaps, spare wheel trim, sunroof, heated rear window/wash wiper and Freestyle alloy wheels. Additional fitted Land Rover accessories include raised air intake, A-frame soft nudge bar, rally 1000 driving lamps and guards, auxiliary wiring swift, access ladder, chequer plate kit and M6000 winch. Only 25 special editions of the Defender will be built at the Solihull factory and will go on sale immediately in Scotland priced at £19,995 (OTR).

The Freelander Braemar special edition is available in three-door hardback or five-door station wagon with the 1.8i K-series petrol engine with manual gearbox. The 3-door on-the-road price is £16,995 and has 17-inch triple sport alloy wheels, front/rear mud flaps, wheel nut kit, front/rear lamp guards, side rubbing strips, single CD player and privacy glass. The five-door station wagon on-the-road price is £19,495. Land Rover accessories include 17-inch triple sport alloy wheels, front/rear lamp guards, side rubbing strips, privacy glass and CD autochanger.

The Range Rover Braemar special edition is available in 2.5 litre diesel or 4.6 litre V8 petrol engine and features wood and leather trim interior, picnic tables, privacy glass and play stations. On-the-road price is £42,995.
