Citroen's new upper medium car, the C5, will go on sale in the UK early in April. Recommended retail prices are likely to start at under £15,000.

Exact specifications and engines for the UK have yet to be announced, but when it arrives on the French market there will be a choice of three trim levels and five engines, the new 2.0 litre HPi petrol, 2.0 litre 16v petrol, new 3.0 litre V6 petrol, 2.0 litre HDi diesel and new 2.2 litre HDi diesel.

Challenging the new Ford Mondeo, Renault Laguna and Audi A4, the C5 is built on an entirely new platform and features Citroen's latest suspension system, Hydractive 3 - which automatically lowers the car at speed to improve aerodynamics and fuel economy.
