Jaguar's new X-type went on sale officially this week in the UK.

The first of the more than 4,000 X-types ordered before the car went on sale are now with their new owners. Among the first celebrities choosing an X-Type was Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, presenter of TV's Changing Rooms. He collected the keys to an X-type earlier this week at Harwoods Jaguar, in Chichester, West Sussex.

Alongside the heavy demand from retail customers, interest from corporate buyers is running at a high rate, says Jaguar. Some 70% of total sales is expected to be to business users.

"The X-type takes us right into the heartland of the UK business car market," said Christine Downton, Jaguar corporate operations manager, "and reaction to the car has been extremely enthusiastic".
