Ford says it has condensed all of its Transit know-how into a smaller package with the new Transit Courier. It offers users a more compact van that offers 2.3 cubic metres of load volume and can cope with goods up to 2.59m in length thanks to its folding passenger seat. Maximum load weight is 660kg.
A choice of one petrol and two turbodiesel engines is on offer, with the 1.6 diesel available in 74-, 94, and 113bhp forms. There is also Ford’s new 1.5-litre turbodiesel, while the 1.0-litre EcoBoost is there for petrol fans.
The Transit Courier comes with a ‘mega-centre’ console that can safely and securely store A4 folders and even a laptop computer. Ford will also offer its SYNC technology with the Courier that includes Emergency Assistance to call for help in the event of a collision. The Courier can also come with a rear view camera and speed limiter, while electronic stability control and Easy Fuel are standard.
