AM100 dealer group Waylands  Automotive is adding three new car brands to its portfolio through an acquisition of more dealerships.

And the deal expands Waylands' area of operations into Wales for the first time.

It will mean that Waylands will climb up the AM100 rankings by turnover from its current 84th position.

The dealer group, headed by chief executive John O'Hanlon, has acquired Honda, Omoda and Jaecoo dealerships, previously operated by HSH Motor Group.

The deal, securing Honda at Cardiff and Bristol plus Omoda Jaecoo at Bristol, takes Waylands to 16 representation points with its brand partners, which already include Kia, MG, Polestar and Volvo.

O’Hanlon told Automotive Management: "We are delighted to continue our expansion of the group through partnership with Honda, Omoda and Jaecoo. All of these brands are bringing exciting new EV and hybrid offerings to our customers on top of established product ranges.

"Their innovation, specifically in the development of hybrid powertrains, is particularly exciting. We are delighted to partner with new manufacturers and develop these relationships further."

Waylands was founded by O'Hanlon in 2017 with just one Volvo dealership, after his previous firm Ridgeway Group, majority owned by David Newman, was acquired by Marshall Motor Group in a £106m deal.

He added: “We also look forward to welcoming 74 colleagues to Waylands and working with them to continue to build on their success at these sites.”
