Chery UK is to enter the market with the seven-seat SUV Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid.

The Chinese car maker has already launched its Omoda and Jaecoo car brands in the UK over the last 12 months, and recently announced it is now set to enter the new car market with its own brand this summer.

The Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid was unveiled at this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and will be followed by another SUV model - likely the Tiggo 2 or Tiggo 7 - soon.

The vehicle is powered by Chery’s latest-generation Super Hybrid system, combining a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a dual-motor full hybrid setup.

It delivers 204 PS and 365 Nm of torque, supports fast and self-charging, and offers up to 745 miles of range, including 56 miles of pure electric driving.

Inside, the Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid features three rows of seating in a 5+2 layout, and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance features also comes standard, including adaptive cruise control, lane centring, and cabin filtration system.

UK pricing and final specifications will be confirmed in the coming weeks, with first deliveries expected by the end of summer. All models will come with a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty.

Many of its selected dealers will be those representing Chery’s sister brands. The two Chinese brands have already achieved a combined market share of 2%, having established a network of dual-branded dealerships plus won considerable interest among fleets and leasing firms.
